The Story in Gamification

The year was 2000, game graphics were horrible but that did not stop me from spending countless hours sitting in front of the computer playing PitFall. It was only a demo version, or was it the full version? I do not really remember because I always failed at the same point.

My love for games grew, I would rush back home after school to play Pinball, yes the soundtrack is playing in my head, It was always satisfying to get to score millions only to lose by accidentally pressing shake and end up on “Tilt”, I never got why I did not just remap the key. The idea of points has stuck in my head and in 2017 when I discovered Gamification, I knew I had to use it in my ventures to Entrepreneurship.

Gamification is interesting, it gives a new dimension into how we do business. I would like to use the idea of status to encourage clients/ customers to partake more in the business ecosystem.

I have outlined some use cases below to use gamification:

  • Gym — Members should get rewarded for attending gym at a consistent basis.
  • Customers should get rewarded when they make repeated purchases.

Consistency is something that is hard to master, thus when it is mastered it should be rewarded. I believe by rewarding people for being consistent, it will further motivate them.
